Acupuncture in Downtown Vancouver

Achieve Balance Through the Ancient Practice

Providing Acupuncture

Park Place Clinic offers acupuncture to downtown Vancouver residents and those in nearby communities. With this ancient Chinese treatment method, fine needles are inserted into specific pressure points along the body to promote its natural healing and restoration processes. Our team can help you restore your body’s internal balance and improve your overall wellness through acupuncture, which can be used to treat a wide range of symptoms and conditions.

As chiropractors in downtown Vancouver, we are experienced with both chiropractic and orthotic services, and we are proud to offer acupuncture in conjunction with our other treatment methods. Acupuncture also works extremely well in combination with other forms of treatments offered at our clinic. Our full-spectrum approach will help you manage and heal various sources of pain or other symptoms.

Experience the Benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Acupuncture is rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine with a history that dates back as far as 2,000 years. This ancient practice dictates that there are pathways throughout the body called meridians, where the body’s energy (also referred to as “qi”) is believed to flow. When these energy pathways are obstructed, this results in pain or sickness.

When fine needles are inserted into specific points along these meridians, this helps re-balance your body’s energy flow. The result of this practice is renewed physical, mental, and even psychological health.

How Does Acupuncture Work?

Acupuncture works to promote the body’s natural healing processes by stimulating particular anatomic sites that directly interact with the body’s nervous system. This is achieved through the insertion of fine, sterile needles into the skin. The results are virtually painless and these needles can be inserted quickly and smoothly without causing damage to any of your tissues.

Depending on your specific needs and conditions, these needles are usually left in place for an average of 15 to 30 minutes. Most patients report feeling a slight tingle or burning sensation during the procedure.

Let us help eliminate your pain by leveraging our acupuncture services.

When used in combination with our other treatment methods, we’ll get to the root cause of your discomfort and help restore your balance and health.

Benefits

Effective Pain Relief

Our acupuncture needles can effectively relieve your pain by targeting specific points throughout the body. When particular anatomical points are stimulated, the production of your body’s steroids improves and endorphins are released. The steroids help decrease any inflammation levels while the endorphins act as your body’s natural painkillers.

Safe and Drug-Free

Acupuncture is often hailed as a safe, drug-free alternative to prescription medication. Given its entirely safe and holistic approach, acupuncture produces minimal side effects and helps provoke the body’s self-healing processes. Studies have proven that when compared to many forms of pain medication, acupuncture can relieve common forms of pain by up to 50%.

Great With Other Treatments

Acupuncture is a fantastic complement to other treatment methods offered at Park Place such as chiropractic care, orthotics, and spinal and postural treatment. Given its association with next-to-no side effects and natural healing methods, it works well when used in tandem with other forms of therapy.

What Happens at Your First Appointment?

During your first treatment, you’ll first discuss important details with our team such as your medical history, current symptoms, and medications. This will help us gain a better idea of how to map out your overall treatment plan and which areas of the body to target.

In tradition with Traditional Chinese Medicine, we’ll then check your wrist pulse and examine your tongue. Your tongue is associated with your body’s internal organs, as well as the meridians where energy is known to flow.

Once we’ve completed our examination, we’ll determine a customized treatment plan to effectively address your pain and begin the procedure. We’ll then ask you to lie down — either on your side, face-down or face-up, depending on which locations we’ll need to access for treatment. Our acupuncturist will wipe any spots where the needles will be inserted with alcohol.

Finally, we’ll insert the fine needles along the selected acupuncture points. You should feel little-to-no discomfort. If you feel a slight tingling or burning sensation, it is usually an indication that the treatment is working!

What can Acupuncture Treat?

Acupuncture is used to treat a wide variety of physical conditions such as strokes, sciatica, nausea, headaches, sprains, pain from motor vehicle accidents, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, muscle pain (such as back, neck, and shoulder pain), postoperative pain and more.

It has also been reported to be an effective treatment for mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and stress. Acupuncture’s ability to restore a healthy flow of energy in the body can help regulate your heart rate and breathing, which can reduce symptoms of stress or tension. It also can promote the release of endorphins, which cause positive and pleasant feelings.

Acupuncture is also entirely safe for pregnant women, helping to ease a wide range of common pregnancy symptoms including nausea, heartburn, leg swelling, back pain, morning sickness, and more.
